FIGHT FIRE WITH 5K!
Please help us in supporting the Southern Oregon Community after the devastating Almeda Drive Fire of 2020. This fire caused multiple deaths, displaced hundreds of families from their homes, and destroyed local businesses. All proceeds from this 5K will go directly to fire relief through the Unidos y Fuertes Rise Up & Rebuild project. We are partnering with Talent Maker City to help make a direct impact on our local community.
This race is entirely virtual! Invite your family and friends to run a 5K together in support of our neighbors. The race can be run anytime from November 9th to November 30th. All race results will be submitted by the runner before November 30th at 8:00 PM (PST). The race price is $11.00 and all participants will receive a decorative medallion.
If you would prefer to make a donation in place of running the 5K, please visit our donation page at https://virtualworldracers.raceentry.com/races/fight-fire-with-5k/2020/register/charity/standalone
Donations can also be made on Talent Maker City's website at https://www.talentmakercity.org/donate-sofires
This 5K event is hosted by Nursing Students Without Borders. We are a club that is part of Oregon Health & Science University School of Nursing. Our program is held at Southern Oregon University's campus in Ashland, OR.
Nursing Students Without Borders is a student run organization committed to addressing local and international health disparities while expanding the perspective of the individual nursing student. By developing leadership skills, cultural awareness, and innovation in resource-poor settings, nursing students will become better prepared both personally and professionally to provide culturally competent health care within our increasingly global society (Kohan & Buchanan, 2012).
Talent Maker City is an inclusive, nonprofit organization bringing environmentally responsible, sustainable economic growth to the region by providing the facilities and resources to serve Southern Oregon as a hub for technical innovation, creative entrepreneurship, and STEAM-oriented collaborative learning for curious minds of all ages.
