Helene Cody Cranbury Virtual 5K & 1 Mile Race

Challenge yourself to train for a 5K or 1 Mile Run this summer! We may be physically separated during the pandemic, but this event is a way we can come together virtually and train for a common goal. As a free event in 2020, there will be no t-shirts or medals this year but there will be plenty of camaraderie and friendly competition!

Connect virtually with our online community to see training plans and share motivational content. Promote the sense of connection in Central NJ and support youth-led projects benefiting the community. 

We invite you to accept this challenge and train for either the 5K or 1 Mile event this summer. Your race will take place any time in the window of September 5th-12th and you can run or walk anywhere! The course in Cranbury will be marked and decorated for those who would like to run the original route!

On race day, make sure you post your results on RunSignUp. Finisher's certificates will be awarded to those who post a time. Also be sure to post pictures and videos on social media and tag #helenecody5k so we can congratulate each other and share our progress!

This event honors the memory of Helene Cody, who passed away from a brain aneurysm on her 16th birthday in 2008. Helene had planned to revive the Cranbury Day 5K that had been previously discontinued as a way to combine her love of distance running and community service. Her classmate hosted the first Helene Cody Cranbury 5K after her passing in 2008, and ever since, the Helene Cody Foundation has used the race to bring the community together and fund youth service projects and scholarships.
