About Epilepsy Center of NW Ohio
The Epilepsy Center of NW Ohio exists to serve people with epilepsy and other seizure disorders. Our goal is to raise funds so that we can offer our community based programs at no charge to the participants. Those programs include Purple Day® (March 26th), Family Camp in August, and our holiday party.
Along with the events, we provide a puppet show for children, in the 3rd and 4th grade, to educate them about epilepsy. This program speaks to the children at their level and explains that epilepsy isn't contagious, shouldn't be scary and how to help if someone they know has a seizure. We also provide adult education in schools, workplaces, churches, social groups, and others, to teach about epilepsy. These brief classes will make it easier to determine when someone is having a seizure (there are many different types) and how to help that person. This is an ideal 'Lunch and Learn' topic for first responders in a workplace environment.
At our main office, we have a resource library open to the public and we will always provide edicational materials upon request.. Our website (www.epilepsycenter.org) has a wealth of information (Education tab) about medications, free phone apps for seizure tracking and reporting, seizure monitoring devices, assistance dogs and links to all area assistance resources.
