ABOUT ACTIVE MINDS AT MONTANA TECH
Active Minds at Montana Tech is a student-led chapter that empowers others to change the conversation about mental health and suicide prevention. We raise awareness, share resources, and inspire action. We are dedicated to saving lives and strengthening our campus community.

 

ABOUT SUICIDE AWARENESS
Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. In 2018, 48,344 Americans died by suicide. In 2018, there were an estimated 1.4 million suicide attempts (AFSP). Not only are these statistics heartbreaking, but most deaths associated with suicide are preventable. By advocating for suicide prevention, you are taking a stand to support nonprofits and agencies dedicated to providing mental health resources to people in need.

 

FAQ: THE 5K

How does a virtual 5K work?
There are five simple steps to participating in Active Minds at Montana Tech's virtual 5K:
1. Register for the event.
2. Set aside time from September 27th to October 11th to run or walk a 5K.
3. Run the 5K! You got this! Make sure you track your run using an app like Runkeeper which shows both distance and time.
4. Submit your results (with photo evidence!) through this website to be placed on the leaderboard.
5. While you wait to see who has won the race, advertise the event to your family and friends. Get people involved and raise even more awareness for the cause. You can even start your own fundraising campaign!

Is there a prize for winning the race?

The 1st through 3rd place winners will receive a personalized medal. Along with that, the 1st place winner will receive a $50 Amazon gift card.

We will also be holding a raffle at the end of the race for three $15 Starbucks gift card. 1st place in the 5K race will receive 20 raffle tickets, 2nd place will receive 10 tickets, and 3rd place will receive 5 tickets. 

What is included in the registration for the race?
Our registration fee of $10 includes 3 raffle tickets and participation in the event. Active Minds t-shirts, #NeedYouHere bracelets, and additional raffle tickets can be bought separately.
