What is WI Space Race?

WI Space Race is the University of Wisconsin Madison’s first undergraduate team to work exclusively on designing, manufacturing, and testing of liquid propellant rockets. We will be competing in the Dollar Per Foot challenge hosted by Friends of Amateur Rocketry. We want to use the momentum of the Dollar Per Foot challenge and strategically deploy the winnings to propel Madison, WI onto the mainstream of today’s new space industry.

FAQ

How does a virtual 5k work?

1. Register for the event.
2. Set aside time from October 18 to October 25 to run or walk a 5K (outside, at the gym, on a treadmill, etc.). 
3. Track your run using an app like Runkeeper which shows both distance and time.
4. Submit your results (with photo evidence!) through this website to be placed on the leaderboard.
5. While you wait to see who has won the race, advertise the event to your family and friends. Get people involved and help raise money to support the UW-Madison aerospace program. 

Is there a prize for winning the race?

We will be holding a raffle at the end of the race for three $20 VISA gift cards. The 1st place winner will receive 10 bonus entries into the raffle. The 2nd place winner will receive 8 bonus entries into the raffle. The 3rd place winner will receive 6 bonus entries into the raffle.

What is included in the registration for the race?
Our registration fee of $10 includes one entry into a raffle for one of three $20 VISA gift cards. Each participant will also receive a virtual bib and certificate.
